CJI DY Chandrachud: We've never seen ourselves as bound by the original interpretation of the constitution. So then should we be bound by the original interpretation of a statute?
#SupremeCourt #QueerMarriage #SameSexMarriage #LGBTQIA
CJI is saying that court can interpret the constitution any way he likes...why not abandon the nonsense called basic structure too. SC can argue both eternal principles and ever changing principles with a straight face...

The quickest way to spot a combo of ignorance & arrogance with a veneer of erudition is when a so called expert resorts to name calling, ignoring extensive research & evidence simply because it threatens the status quo of an icon put on a pedestal without analyzing the facts.
Which recent-ish historical personality reminds you of Shri Ram, Shri Krishna respectively?
"Reminds" does not mean "same as"/"perfect" in any way but "somewhat like". Not allowed to mention parents, teachers etc :)
I'll go first: Abraham Lincoln, Shivaji Maharaj respectively.
The logical conclusion of society being composed of many mostly endogamous communities (w/ internal exogamy maybe) compared to other nations is a relatively consociationalist democratic polity.
I should be surprised though I am not at how many do not grasp this rather key point.
'..'Brahminical Hinduism' disappearing.. Modi responsible for that.. does not mean Brahminism disappearing.. There are Dalit Brahmins/OBC Brahmins.. [Modi] worked hard.. Communists/Congress failed wrt Dalit question.' M Kunjaman-was close to CPI(M) CM EMS.
Yes Sri Aurobindo, Lala Lajpat Rai, Swami Vivekananda, Gurudev Tagore can theoretically be completely wrong + totally fooled by Roy’s “evil designs” - certainly possible.
But amateur online historians ever being less informed than all of them? Just banish that possibility :)
Her thread has some holes i.e the establishment of Brahmo Samajh if he wanted to convert everyone his entire life.
But your behaving has been exactly like Romila Thapars or Irfan Habibs.
Lots of rhetoric, person attacks, concoctions & very little factual counters.
I had written about his siding with British and English four years back but then when I further studied came to a realisation that situation in Bengal wasn’t great for Hindus. Hinduism had become almost stagnant. He was doing whatever seemed correct to him for us.
Doesn't matter. His generation pushed xtian anti-ritualist view. Its shadow loomed large on the positions taken by Dayananda Aurobindo etc and we are yet to come out of its impact. Karma yoga is the platform for any other H path, and his position is unacceptable.
I agree that we ought not to judge Roy in his hindsight first and ignoring the situation of Bengal at that time.
But his final contribution and his position ought to be properly put in place. Right now he is occupying a higher pedestal as far as the larger country is concerned.
As the issue of #SameGenderMarriage is the flavour of season, I submit with all humbleness at my command for a determination to include other vital issues of equal national importance namely, the Group Sex, Threesome, Polygamy, Polyandry etc as one’s fundamental right to fully… Show more
All ideologues of today are the propehts of future. They want subscribers for their newly created system not Mumukṣus or seekers. A subscribers worth to the system is similar to the cannon fodder.
Seekers on the other hand are reviled, deemed as enemies only because +
instead of following the system they question it. Instead of becoming blind devotees they can become opponents. The seeker knows death as the ultimate truth & deems life as a lie.
Don't be afraid of metamorphosis, because stregth is life & fear is the biggest enemy.
Please make this video viral, show the world how our judiciary is influenced by the agenda of a foreign university.
From “qualitative individualism” to “expressive individualism”

The contemporary world (and not just the Western world) continues to feel the power of the ethical ideal that proclaims "be yourself", which I wrote about in detail) five years ago. I stand by most of what I said about this ideal: it remains philosophically under-studied, it remains pervasive, and I continue to find it persuasive.
What I have come to question over those five years, though, is the name I gave to that ideal.
I support you insofar as you brought certain texts to the attention of the public but nothing substantive can be deduced from such isolated content in the same way as nothing very definite can be known about your own personality and thinking from the few tweets on Renaissance man.
Others including Bengalis can be forgiven but why the educated Tamils don't read Sri Aurobindo or become curious when so much goes on in Puducherry and Auroville is surprising. One well-known reason is Sri Aurobindo disagreeing with Shankara but not all are devoted to the latter.
