Crossing the Threshold: Etheric Imagination in the Post-Kantian Process Philosophy of Schelling and Whitehead
State of Play: Be it Congress or BJP, journalists who ask tough questions are ignored, mocked or not granted interviews with high-ups. Or there are rigged press conferences. Or interviews that are seemingly fair but lack analytical focus are given space and time.
Jokes aside, and regardless of disagreements with particular views, I do feel sorry about the viciousness that Barkha Dutt and so many other journalists have encountered at the hands of the Modi-Shah regime. The duo only allows a petty pliant, and incompetent lot to ply the trade

Stengers speaks to our moment with urgency & care, using Whitehead to remind us that, while thought & language were long preceded by the power of abstraction, the specialized abstractions of professionalized experts now threaten to undermine our very capacity to make sense.

Whatever VP Singh did wrong as PM is more than balanced out by his excellent work in destroying Gandhi dynasty halo. All assessments of Indian history need to start by acknowledging Gandhi family as fountainhead of BIF. All others are our people, we will have disagreements.
I don’t think Mandal ever threatened to do any such thing. Mandal itself as a phenomenon is overrated Imo.
Not really. You are overstating its impact. The real change here was splintering of Cong coalition which was more due to Mandir and people being done with Gandhis than with Mandal.
Yes
VP Singh’s open revolt against Rajiv was the beginning of the end of Nehru dynasty’s hold over Hindi heart land
Mandalism destroyed Cong’s hold over Caste dynamics which in turn paved the path for Ayodha movement
Cong lost Hindi heartland since then
It's good that so many webinars on Sri Aurobindo are taking place but most of them are of undergraduate level or lower. PG or PhD standard discourse is absent. Confining deliberation to Sri Aurobindo's writings, without taking the ecosystem into account, is one major shortcoming.
Each one supports some political or ideological plank out of self-interest and not due to ethical or rational conviction. Thus, searching for real self-interest is important. Reading Sri Aurobindo's books reveals the true nature of our psychological make-up exposing blind-spots.
In view of the fact that the writings of Marx still rule the ideological currents, Sri Aurobindo's thought is relatively recent and more potent. Marx's forecasts on the demise of Capitalism came a cropper. So nothing more reliable than Vedic evolutionary prophecy of Sri Aurobindo.
Publication of Arya in 1914 is an important event in the history of humanity. Metting of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo a few months before on March 29 turned highly fruitful. All intellectual debates of the previous century were resolved and a definite way for the future was shown.
Sri Aurobindo's major writings were published before the Ashram came into being, in the 'Arya' magazine. Thus, there's no official or establishment position on Sri Aurobindo's opinions. Let's hope that full academic examination and utilisation of his thought will be possible now.
