The federal government systematically destroyed all Indian language universities. The Sanskrit colleges, which served as the core of local universities and supplied scientific vocabulary for all Indian languages, were funded by the princely states. They had their funds dried up.

Veda is a book of inner knowledge, not faith. Shruti is not a scripture but a mantric presentation of the higher knowledge. Shastra is a guide to gaining direct knowledge not a prescription of beliefs. Vedas deal with Universal Consciousness, not any mere theology.
